Southern Magnolia Plant Description - Southern Magnolia, Magnolia grandiflora, is a very tough broadleaf evergreen. Its lustrous dark green leaves have a warm, orangish brown pubescence underside that keeps its color in even the most trying of weather conditions. Southern Magnolia have beautiful blooms that come in the Spring. These wonderful flowers can be as large as 12 inches across and have a exquisite citrus scent that attract bees and butterflies. Southern Magnolia is great for wet areas and remains a good urban tree. It is native to the southeastern United States. Southern Magnolia is easy to transplant and is an upright grower that is pyramidal in shape. We have cultivar Southern Magnolia 'D.D. Planting Instructions - Dig a hole three times the diameter of the root system, with a depth no deeper than the original soil line on trunk. Break up the soil to the finest consistency possible. Place plant in hole and fill, compacting the fill dirt. Water the plant heavily to seal soil around the roots and remove air pockets. Fertilize according to the recommendation of your local agriculture extension agents, or fertilize based on your own knowledge and experience. We do have balled and burlap trees available in wholesale quantities. Please call with the size and quantity that you are interested in, and we will provide you with a quote. We DO NOT ship to states West of the Rocky Mountains.
